Written by: Bridgewest

New-Investment-Opportunities-in-Bulgarian-Burgas-RegionThe Executive Director of the Bulgarian Port Burgas, Diyan Dimov, announced 12 million BGN will be invested in the Burgas region until the end 2015.  Local and foreign investors will now have new opportunities of expanding their businesses in the Burgas region.

Upgrading infrastructure in the Burgas Port

According to the announcement made by Diyan Dimov at the end of May, an important part of the funds will be allocated to the upgrade of the ship berths and port infrastructure in order to attract more foreign investors in the shipping industry.

The investment in the region will also address investors in the tourism industry, as the State Enterprise Port Infrastructure is also underway for reconstruction and one of the oldest port storage facilities in the region would be transformed into a Marine Cultural Center and will also have an additional passenger terminal. The improvement of the conditions for the development of seaports is also very important for the Government, Burgas being one of the regions where major Bulgarian export companies are located.

The Executive Director also promised the construction of two new yacht halls by the end of the year, among which one of them will be dedicated for repairs, Bulgarian shipping companies not being required to search for alternatives if their vessels are damaged.

Why invest in the Burgas region?

Port Burgas is one of the oldest Bulgarian ports and it celebrated its 112th anniversary at the end of May. With a skilled labor force counting 230 employees until now, Port Burgas is a very popular touristic destination.

Currently, Laka is one of the main attractive locations in the region. Located about 15 km from the city of Burgas, the village is a magnet for foreign enterprisers looking to invest in real estate development in Bulgaria. The small village is situated close to both the Black Sea and to the Burgas International Airport and the Government designed a plan for the development of the infrastructure. The Government also announced the area around the village is included in the extended development plan of Burgas and new facilities for Bulgarian logistics companies will be created.
